Despite being the youngest of the 12 queen contestants Salaseini Kulinidilo is confident of doing well during the Miss Vodafone Friendly North Festival

Sponsored by Lions Club of Labasa the 19-year-old said she would advocate on a smoke-free Fiji during the weeklong festival at Subrail Park in Labasa. The festival begins this Saturday, August 18.

“Smoking tobacco is one of the major leading causes of non-communicable diseases that can trigger heart disease and lung cancer,” Miss Kulinidilo said.

“Being a first year student of University of the South Pacific Labasa Campus I have witnessed firsthand how young people choose to smoke, without realising that it is affecting their health.

“Making the right decision can be very hard at times when you are surrounded by peer groups. But, if anyone has the willpower to say no and value life then I believe there can be a reduction in cases of NCDs.”

Originally from Navetau, Tuniloa District, in the province of Cakaudrove, Miss Kulinidilo said she was proud to represent the Lions Club.

“The club is focused on assisting the poor and the needy. Its members want to reach out to many people as possible in Labasa,” she said.

“This is the third year the club has been sponsored a queen contestant.”

“My aim is to win the crown so that I can create greater impact in the society, assist the club and also reach out to the young generation with my advocacy message.”

Her hobbies are singing, dancing and socialising.
