Putnamville Correctional Facility officer arrested for trafficking tobacco

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Putnamville Correctional Facility officer has been arrested after she admitted to trafficking tobacco into the prison, the Indiana Department of Correction said in a news release.

Breanna Lee Clements, 23, said she intended to deliver the tobacco to inmate Travis Rooney, who is serving a sentence for robbery out of Elkhart County. Rooney is being investigated and held in a restricted housing unit.

Clements was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of trafficking tobacco and official misconduct. No court information on her case was available in online records, but online jail recorded indicated she had paid a bond and left the jail.

The state prison is about 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis.
