Expats arrested for selling illegal cigarettes in Oman

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority has arrested several expatriate workers for manufacturing, distributing, and selling chewed tobacco and unauthorized cigarettes.

In a statement issued, the authority said:"The Consumer Protection Department in North Sharqiyah Governorate in Ibra, in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and the Royal Oman Police, arrested expatriate workers who produced, distributed and sold chewed tobacco (non-smoked), and unauthorized cigarettes. 80 kilograms of chewed tobacco (non-smoked) and 1,800 packages of unauthorized cigarettes, in addition to an amount of more than OMR 18,600 were seized from them.”
