Indiana man arrested after robbing, beating man, assaulting girlfriend
An Indiana man has been taken into custody after tying up, beating and stealing from another man in Ohio County.
According to Prosecutor Lynn Deddens, the victim heard a car pull up to his residence on Mexico Ridge Road around 8:30 a.m. and saw an unknown man in his garage, attempting to steal a table saw.
Deddens says the man, later identified as Marvin Moyers Jr. of Patriot, Indiana, tied the homeowner up and repeatedly beat him.
Authorities say after freeing himself, the victim walked to a neighbor's residence for help and told arriving deputies that Moyers took "several firearms, a table saw and other personal belongings" before he left.
Officials say during an investigation, they found a "significant" amount of blood inside the home, footprints in the living room and basement and a black cable fastened to a chair.
The victim, authorities say, was able to tell officials that after freeing himself, he saw a red SUV near the home, which could also be seen in security footage from a nearby home.
During the investigation, officials say Indiana State Police learned of a 911 call placed in Switzerland County to report a domestic battery. Authorities say the woman was Moyers' girlfriend.
Officials said Switzerland County deputies responded to Moyers' residence, where they found an older, red SUV in the driveway, leading deputies to believe the vehicle matched the one in the surveillance footage.
Authorities said Moyers was arrested for domestic battery and transported to the Switzerland County Jail.
Deddens Office said Moyers' girlfriend told officials that she had gone to his house to retrieve some of her possessions and saw a gun and a laptop inside the home, which she believed were stolen.
Officials said a search warrant of Moyers' home was executed which led to the discovery of a shotgun, cigars and electronic devices, all believed to be stolen from the home on Mexico Ridge.
Moyers has also been charged with burglary resulting in bodily harm.
