Niger police arrest man for being in possession of human skull, others

Niger State Police Command have arrested one suspected ritualist, Abdulrahman Woru, aged 38 years, who resides in Banana area of Borgu, for being in possession of human skull.

Niger State Police Command have arrested one suspected ritualist, Abdulrahman Woru, aged 38 years, who resides in Banana area of Borgu, for being in possession of human skull.

According to Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, when a search was conducted in his house, human skull, three pieces of suspected human ribs, two idols and the sum of 5,000 CFA, Benin Republic currency, were recovered.

During interrogation, he confessed that the human skull belongs to him. The suspect claimed that he migrated from Benin Republic to Nigeria four years ago for his business but without any immigration document, adding that he is a traditional medicine practitioner.

The statement said the suspect would be prosecuted.

Also the Command said its operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida in Gurara local council of Niger State arrested one Ibrahim Ali, also known as Bajala, aged 25 years for being an informant and food supplier to suspected kidnappers arrested by the Command.

A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the suspects was arrested in his hideout at Gwalo village following the arrest of two suspected kidnappers on January 27, 2023 with the recovery of N2.1 million at Lambata in Gurara local council.

He further said investigation into the matter through the confessional statement of the kidnappers and intelligence received, led to arrest of the food supplier Ibrahim Ali .

The Command noted that during the interrogation, the informant and food supplier confessed to the crime and hinted that they usually monitor targets for kidnappers. It added that the food supplier also confessed that he assisted the hoodlums to purchase foodstuffs such as Rice, Beans, Millet and alcohol as well as cigarettes.

It further stated that the suspect was arrested with some quantity of raw rice and beans, which he said he wanted to convey to the kidnappers in their hideout in Gwalo forest.

According to the statement, the suspect is under investigation at SCID Minna and will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
