On Friday, April 26, Stillwater Police Department's (SPD) Special Projects Division conducted age compliance checks related to the sale of vape and tobacco products.

These checks followed concerns surrounding the overdose of a juvenile due to a THC vape pen, allegedly purchased from a Stillwater business.

Five arrests were made as SPD found five businesses that sold vape or tobacco products to underage individuals.

Throughout Stillwater, SPD has observed a rising trend of THC vape pen possession among juveniles.

While some devices are nicotine based, these vape pens often contain illegal Delta-9 THC or Delta-8 THC.

These strains are not regulated in Oklahoma but are restricted in other states due to the risks of overdose in minors.

SPD recommends that parents have open conversations with children about the dangers associated with THC-infused vape products.

For more information on Delta-8 THC and its risks, parents are encouraged to review FDA resources available at fda.gov.
