A fatal crash last fall on the University of Rhode Island campus apparently will not result in any criminal charges.
NBC 10 News on Wednesday obtained a "collision reconstruction report" by the South Kingstown Police Department into the death of a URI staffer who was struck by a car.
Maureen McDermott was struck in a crosswalk at the intersection of Campus Avenue and Lower College Road on Nov. 6. She died Nov. 15.
According to the heavily-redacted report, the car, after stopping at the stop sign on Lower College Road, turned left onto Campus Avenue and hit McDermott.
The report says the driver got out to help McDermott. The driver's name is among the redactions.
Police said the posted speed limit on Campus Avenue is 15 mph. Investigators said testing concluded speed was not a factor.
Investigators said they also collected witness statements and surveillance video in reconstructing what happened.
University of Rhode Island police said no criminal charges would be filed against the driver but a summons would be issued to appear at the Traffic Tribunal on three driving violations.
McDermott's death shook the campus community.
She worked at URI for over 40 years, most recently as the director of student involvement.
