On Tuesday, Roswell athlete Bryana Castro signed her letter of intent to attend Eastern Arizona College (EA) on a soccer scholarship. This took place in the Roswell High Little Theater.

“We are proud of her and everything she has done. We hope that she continues to get better, and we think she will be amazing at Eastern Arizona,” Bryana’s parents, Rual and Rosario, said during the signing.

Castro was on the Roswell High girls soccer team for four years. In those four years, she made all district three times. In her senior year, she led her team in goals with 30, points with 64 and shots with 71. With this, she made all state and was invited to the all-star game. Castro will also be the first female from the Roswell area to get a scholarship to this college for soccer.

Castro said that she is super excited and super nervous to go to college. She added that it’s great to get out of the state because she is able to see new things and to meet new people. For soccer, she hopes that she can compete, make goals and be the best player she can be.

The EA coach, Charles Long, was also in attendance for the signing and spoke highly of Castro. He said that he loves the family environment she has had after Long spoke with Castro’s family, and how much work ethic she has shown. Long added that he will push Castro to be in some leadership roles while she is there. He ended by saying that he thinks that Castro will fit in well at EA, and is excited to have her.
