On April 2, the West Virginia State Police, as well as the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, Potomac Highlands Task Force and local law enforcement officers from Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties executed 13 search warrants on multiple tobacco and vape stores in the three counties.
In total, the combined law enforcement effort resulted in $96,000 in U.S. currency, $700,000 in illegal products, four firearms and two vehicles being seized. The search warrants were executed after law enforcement, with assistance from the Department of Agriculture, noted the 13 locations “were developed as selling illegal THC products.”
The investigation began after two traffic stops in December 2024 signaled that marijuana and an illegal THC vape device were found to have been purchased at local stores.
In Jefferson County, three search warrants were executed on University Vape in Shepherdstown, Ranson Tobacco/Vape in Ranson and Tobacco Hut in Charles Town. Two locations were searched in Morgan County, while the other eight were in Berkeley County. No information has been released noting if the three Jefferson County locations were selling illegal products. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
