Revenue seize weapons, booze, drugs and cigarettes in multiple operations nationwide
Revenue officers were busy over the last week, seizing an estimated €660,650 worth of drugs, booze, cigarettes, weapons, and other illegal goods in various operations
Over the past week Revenue officers have seized weapons, alcohol, drugs, counterfeit goods and cigarettes worth an estimated €660,650.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations in Dublin, the Midlands and Rosslare Europort.
In the haul, Revenue uncovered 20.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €413,000, and almost 60kg of edibles, with an estimated value of €55,000.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs were discovered, with the assistance of detector dogs Sam, Ciara and Enzo, whilst Revenue officers were searching parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands.
The parcels originated from Canada, the USA, Spain, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, India, the UK, Netherlands and France, and were destined for addresses nationwide.
Officers seized 244 counterfeit goods of assorted brands, with an estimated value of over €67,500. The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.
The counterfeit good consisted of goods branded Adidas, Birkenstock, Burberry, Chanel, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Rolex, Tommy Hilfiger, Umbro, Nike, Crocs, Reebok and New Balance.
Cigarettes and tobacco products with an estimated value of €96,850, including 1,363kg of raw tobacco, with an estimated value of over €91,000, seized in Dublin Port. The tobacco originated in Italy, and was intercepted with the assistance of detector dog Milo.
The cigarettes and tobacco seized were branded Chesterfield, Camel, L&D Pink, Lambert and Butler, Marlboro Gold, Winston, Sobranie, London Black and Hongtashan.
Revenue also seized various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of €20,300, including 1-Benzylpiperazine, 1 3 5-Trimethoxybenzene, 1-Phenyl-N-propylpentan-2-amine Hydrochloride, 3-chloro PCP HCL, 4-Amino-3-fluorophenol, 4-Amino-3-(4-fluorophenyl) butanoic acid HCL, Beta-Hydroxt 2C-B, Butyrfentanyl Hydrochloride, N-Phenylacetyl, amphetamine, cannabis oil, cannabis resin, HHC vapes, reefers, synthetic cannabinoids and mixed tablets.
In addition to the above, almost 640 litres of alcohol with a retail value of over €8,000, and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €4,750, was seized in various operations. The seized alcohol consisted of wine, beer, alcopops, and spirits.
36 weapons were also seized in the Midlands, including pepper spray, a telescopic baton, diablo rockets and smoke bombs.
A spokesperson for Revenue confirmed that investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
