New Spain beach rule as UK tourists warned of £1,600 fines

You could end up in trouble if you do not follow the new beach rule

British tourists have been issued a warning over a new travel rule affecting beaches in Spain.


Holidaymakers jetting off to Spain for a little spring sunshine are being reminded they could be fined if they break the new rule.


In the UK, there are no restrictions on vaping in public spaces and it is generally permitted at outdoor events


But stricter regulations on vaping in public spaces have been introduced in Spain - including on its beaches.

This is due to public health and environmental concerns.

It means that beaches are now considered restricted areas for vaping and you could be punished if you break the rule.

According to the experts experts at One Sure Insurance, you could face fines of up to 1900 euros (£1,600).


They said: "We urge Britons to familiarise themselves with regulations before travelling abroad, to avoid fines and penalties.

"Certain countries have banned vaping including popular destinations such as France, following suit from Belgium who were the first country to ban the sale of disposable vapes in the EU."

According to the experts, 'certain countries also ban the sale of flavoured vapes, such as in the Netherlands'.


It is important that you check if there are any regulations which could land you in trouble before jetting off on holiday.

They went on: "For those planning to enjoy their e-cigarettes in the sun, it’s vital to be informed about local laws, especially in countries like Spain where vaping is banned on certain beaches.

"Before travelling, it’s a good idea to consult government resources for your destination to ensure you're up-to-date with current regulations, not those just on vaping.

"If you're unsure, it's always better to be safe and avoid vaping on beaches that may have specific laws in place."
