Eagle-eyed fans spotted Justin Bieber smoking in the background of one of his Instagram posts.
On Sunday, May 4 the singer posted a photo of himself smoking out of what appears to be a bong on social media while his wife Hailey Bieber prepared for the Met Gala. The Canadian pop star opted out of this year's Costume Institute fundraiser to watch hockey instead while his Hailey attended the star-studded event in New York City.
Fans expressed concerns about the 31-year-old's wellbeing, especially after the singer posted several emotional posts, including pleas to be left alone by paparazzi and a heartfelt tribute to his late grandfather who recently passed.
In the photo, the 'Peaches' singer was spotted in the background sitting outside wearing a red sweatshirt with what appeared to be a glass water pipe pressed to his lips as singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin was pictured playing guitar inside the house.
In another image, the same smoking apparatus can be seen on the floor next to the singer's foot. Fans flooded the comments with words of support and concern for the troubled star.
While some criticized his behavior, others came to his defense. For example, one fan commented: "I hate to see you smoking weed all the time."
Another came to his defense: "Can yall stop judging and act like yall are perfec[t], just requires a tiny bit of sympathy, he is clearly not okay for yall to be judging. He has gone through so much and other rappers that yall hear also do drugs and smoke and yall know that, it's not others people obligation to guide other children,it's your parents and even yourself if you are underage."
The singer has made more than two dozen Instagram posts since, including several of him playing golf and others featuring friends and pastel colored house slippers.
This isn't the first time Justin has been photographed smoking.
A few weeks ago, the pop star was spotted by a fan smoking at Coachella in front of his teenage brother and back in March, the 'Baby' singer posted photos of himself appearing to smoke out of a bong while sitting on a dirt bike.
