Turkey tourist warning issued as holidaymakers 'caught completely off guard'
Vapers travelling to Turkey on holiday are being warned about getting their hands on supplies due to strict retail laws.
As holidaymakers eagerly tick off the days to their summer escapes, Turkey is poised to greet upwards of 4 million UK tourists this year once more.
However, vaping experts at WickdUp have sounded an alarm for those bound for Turkey's sought-after resorts, following a surge in reports from Brits struggling to get their hands on even elementary vaping essentials upon arrival.
While personal use of vapes remains lawful in Turkey, stringent regulations on tobacco-related promotions and sales have led many local vendors and holiday spots to avoid offering items like disposable vapes, cartridges, or e-liquids, particularly in areas frequented by tourists.
WickdUp's vape connoisseur Mike Byers remarked: "We've heard of so many travellers returning from Antalya, Marmaris and Bodrum saying they were caught completely off guard. Shops that once stocked basic vape gear now won't sell it at all - and if you're used to picking up supplies on arrival, you could be left without."
He further advised: "There's no outright ban on personal use, but sales are restricted due to strict retail rules. Our advice? Pack what you need for the entire trip - and always double-check the latest regulations before you travel", reports Birmingham Live.
Turkish policy currently allows visitors to carry personal vape supplies into the nation, which includes a maximum of 10 disposable vapes per individual, one rechargeable device, and a combined limit of 30ml for refill bottles or cartridges.
Holidaymakers are advised not to depend on local availability once they've arrived at their destination, particularly in more remote regions or smaller resorts, where vaping products may be scarce due to the enforcement of advertising prohibitions and tobacco-equivalent legislation.
For those desiring more convenient access to vape supplies whilst overseas, WickdUp suggests considering France – a country where public vaping is legal and refill items are readily available, Poland – recognised for its liberal vape regulations and economical pricing, and the Czech Republic – where vaping is allowed in most public spaces and products are easily located.
As always, it's crucial that travellers refer to the official government advice at Gov.uk prior to departure, especially when packing vape items or traversing borders between multiple nations.
