A WARRINGTON man has been prosecuted by trading standards after being convicted of tobacco and vape regulation breaches.
Roman Rzgar Kadir was the subject of court proceedings brought by Lancashire County Council’s trading standards team.
The 23-year-old, of Glebeland in Culcheth, denied two charges of supplying a tobacco product in breach of packaging regulations.
He also pleaded not guilty to sole charges of supplying a tobacco product with packaging not carrying regulation health warnings, and supplying an electronic cigarette which did not comply with product requirements.
However, the defendant was found guilty of all charges recently at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court and subsequently sentenced.
On October 10, 2022, in Chorley, it was found that he supplied 337 packets of cigarettes and 34 packets of hand-rolling tobacco that did not comply with regulations in that each was not in plain packaging.
Moreover, he also supplied 14 packs of shisha tobacco that did not carry health warnings, as required by regulations, and supplied e-cigarettes that contained more than 2ml of nicotine liquid, again contrary to regulations.
After being found guilty, Kadir was ordered by the court to pay a total of £1,165, broken down into a fine of £332, court costs of £700, and a victim surcharge of £133.
In addition, magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cigarettes, e-cigs, hand-rolling tobacco and shisha tobacco.
