Virginia Giuffre's tragic final photo with family as brother says she was in 'pain'
The family of Virginia Giuffre have shared a final photo of the sex trafficking survivor after her tragic death overnight.
The devastated family of Virginia Giuffre has shared a poignant final photo of the courageous sex trafficking survivor who tragically took her own life. As one of the most vocal accusers of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, Ms Giuffre alleged that they trafficked her to Prince Andrew at the age of 17.
This is a claim vehemently denied by the Duke of York. In a heartfelt statement, her grieving relatives remembered her as "a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse" after she passed away at her farm in Western Australia.
Virginia's brother, Danny Wilson, shared a touching final photo of Giuffre, showing her sitting with him and another man, believed to be her older brother Sky, reports the Mirror.
Danny Wilson told NBC News that she "pushed so hard to snuff the evil out" of the world, adding, "Her biggest push was, 'If I don't do this, nobody's going to do it.
"She was in real physical pain - suffered from renal failure. But I think the mental pain was worse."
In an earlier statement, the family said: "It is with utterly broken hearts we announce Virginia passed away last night.
"She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors. In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight."
Honouring the legacy of Virginia Giuffre, her battle against sexual exploitation and her unwavering support for fellow survivors was highlighted by her family following her untimely death.
Recognised as a formidable force in the war against sex crimes, Giuffre's inner brightness elevated numerous other victims, they said, before the burden of her own traumatic experiences eventually proved too much for her to bear.
Giuffre, a mother to three children, claimed that she was subjected to sexual abuse by Prince Andrew on the orders of Epstein's cohort, the imprisoned British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, when she was just 17.
However, these claims have been staunchly refuted by both the Duke of York and Maxwell - who is currently serving time as a convicted sex offender.
Originally from Sacramento, California, Giuffre was among the initial voices demanding justice against Epstein.
Her activism not only shone a spotlight on his reprehensible actions but also delivered vital insights to law enforcement agencies, ultimately aiding in Maxwell's legal indictment.
Dini von Mueffling, her publicist, in a heartfelt statement, explained: "Deeply loving, wise and funny, she was a beacon to other survivors and victims. She adored her children and many animals.
"She was always more concerned with me than with herself. I will miss her beyond words. It was the privilege of a lifetime to represent her."
While held on allegations of sex trafficking, Epstein, aged 66, took his own life within the confines of a New York detention centre.
The notorious criminal, allegedly linked to over 200 victims, was discovered lifeless inside his quarters at the Manhattan correctional facility in August 2019.
